this privacy policy describes how bullshitmeter ("we", "us", "our"), available at bullshitmeter.app, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our service.

1. data we collect

when you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication tokens. we also collect basic session metadata such as session timestamps and duration. we do not collect any data beyond what is necessary to provide the service.

2. audio data

audio captured from your microphone is streamed in real-time to deepgram for transcription. audio is processed on-the-fly and is not stored on our servers. we do not retain, record, or archive any raw audio data. deepgram processes the audio stream for the sole purpose of generating text transcription.

3. ai processing

transcribed text is sent to ai models (groq) for factual analysis and rhetoric detection. this processing occurs in real-time and transcribed text is not stored beyond the active session. ai analysis results (verdicts, scores, rhetoric detections) are generated in real-time and only persist if you choose to save or share a session.

4. local storage

session history (including transcripts, verdicts, and speaker scores) is stored locally in your browser's localstorage. up to 10 sessions are retained locally. this data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share a session. you can clear your local session history at any time through your browser settings.

5. shared sessions

when you explicitly share a session, the session data (transcript, verdicts, speaker scores, and analysis) is stored in our database (supabase) and made accessible via a public link. shared sessions remain stored until you delete them or your account is terminated.

6. cookies

we use only essential cookies required for authentication, managed through supabase. we do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party analytics cookies.

7. third-party services

we use the following third-party services to operate bullshitmeter:

• deepgram — real-time audio transcription. audio is streamed to deepgram and processed on-the-fly.
• groq — ai-powered factual analysis and rhetoric detection. transcribed text is sent for real-time analysis.
• supabase — authentication, user account management, and database storage for shared sessions.
• resend — transactional email delivery (account verification, password reset).

each third-party service is subject to its own privacy policy. we encourage you to review their respective policies.

8. your rights

under applicable data protection laws, including the gdpr, you have the right to:

• access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• rectification — request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• erasure — request deletion of your account and associated data. you can delete your account at any time through the settings panel.
• data portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• restriction — request restriction of processing in certain circumstances.
• objection — object to processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.

9. data retention

account data is retained for as long as your account is active. shared sessions are retained until you delete them or your account is terminated. local session data is managed entirely by your browser and is not under our control.

10. children's privacy

bullshitmeter is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. if you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

11. changes to this policy

we may update this privacy policy from time to time. changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date. continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
