by accessing or using bullshitmeter ("the service"), available at bullshitmeter.app, you agree to be bound by these terms of service. if you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. service description

bullshitmeter is a real-time fact-checking and rhetoric analysis tool. it captures audio from your device's microphone, transcribes speech using deepgram, and analyzes claims using ai models powered by groq. the service provides automated verdicts on factual accuracy and identifies rhetorical techniques in spoken content.

bullshitmeter is a reflection tool, not a source of truth. ai-generated verdicts may contain errors, and the service should not be relied upon as definitive fact-checking or legal advice.

2. audio recording and consent

by using the service, you consent to the capture and processing of audio from your device's microphone. audio is streamed in real-time to deepgram for transcription purposes only. audio data is not stored on our servers. transcription occurs in real-time, and raw audio is discarded after processing by deepgram.

you are solely responsible for ensuring that all parties being recorded are aware of and consent to the recording, as required by applicable law in your jurisdiction. many jurisdictions require all-party consent for audio recording.

3. ai processing and accuracy

transcribed text is sent to ai models (groq) for factual analysis and rhetoric detection. verdicts, scores, and analysis are auto-generated by artificial intelligence and may contain inaccuracies, errors, or biases. you acknowledge that ai-generated results should not be treated as authoritative or used as a substitute for professional fact-checking, legal counsel, or expert advice.

ai knowledge has a training cutoff date and may not reflect the most recent events or developments.

4. user accounts and data

you may create an account to access additional features such as unlimited session length and session sharing. you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.

session history is stored locally in your browser (up to 10 sessions). shared sessions are stored in our database (supabase) and are accessible via a public link. you are responsible for the content you choose to share.

5. prohibited use

you agree not to use the service for:

• illegal surveillance or unauthorized recording of individuals
• harassment, intimidation, or bullying of speakers or other individuals
• any activity that violates applicable local, state, national, or international law
• attempting to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the service
• automated or programmatic access to the service without prior written consent
• spamming, abusing, or overloading the service infrastructure

6. limitation of liability

the service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that ai-generated analysis will be accurate or complete.

to the fullest extent permitted by law, bullshitmeter and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or reputation, arising from your use of the service.

7. termination

we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. you may also terminate your account at any time through the settings panel.

8. changes to these terms

we may update these terms from time to time. changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date. continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

9. governing law

these terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. any disputes arising from the use of this service shall be resolved in the appropriate jurisdiction.
